Episode 091 - O Patrulhamento
(The Patrol)

Kurama, Hiei and Kuwabara can barely stand now, but they still attack, trying to avenge Yusuke's death. Sensui dodges the dimensional sword and punches Kuwabara hard; then he snatches the whip away from Kurama's hands and kicks the Youko in the stomach; at last he uses the whip to deflect Hiei's Ensatsu Ken.

In Mushiori City, Keiko holds Puu in panic: he stopped moving completely a while ago. She knows something must have happened to Yusuke; Shizuru tries to calm her down. Suddenly Puu starts to shine and levitate. Keiko tries to hold him down, but he floats away inside a bubble of light. Keiko and Shizuru run after him.

Inside the Irima cave, Koenma frowns, listening to Yusuke's chest: "His heart has stopped, but his spirit didn't leave the body."

The Tokubetsu BoueitaiThe nine Tokubetsu Boueitai arrive: Commander Otake orders three of them to close the tunnel entrance; other three are to patrol the barrier so no demons come through. Otake tells Koenma to go back to Reikai; those are Enma-daiou's orders. Koenma refuses. Otake suggests that Koenma will see things he wouldn't want to see if he stays. Koenma demands an explanation.

Otake remembers Enma's instructions: "I'll have to take harsh measures to maintain the peace. Terminate Yusuke Urameshi immediately!" Otake protested, since Urameshi has always honored his job as a Reikai Tantei, but King Enma said that through Yusuke's veins runs the blood of the Evil Clan.

In the city, Shizuru and Keiko are still running after the levitating Puu, who suddenly stops in mid-air. There's a big explosion of light. The girls are covered by a huge shadow of a bird, which flies away. Keiko is more and more worried about Yusuke.

In the cave: Koenma argues that Yusuke can't be an Evil Clan descendant since his parents are human. Otake agrees, adding that Yusuke's grandparents, great-grandparents and great-great-grandparents are human as well. Koenma abruptly understands what Otake means and gasps in shock: "Evil Clan from a remote era?!" Otake nods: "Only the A or higher-class demons are capable of performing such mating."

The narrator explains that Atavism is a phenomenon that occurs when genes from a person aren't passed to the immediate descendant, but to a remote one (to a grandchild instead of the son or daughter, for example). When it comes to genes from a very powerful demon, the genes can be "dormant" for many generations; that means that if an A or S-class demon conceives with a human, this child won't have an "active" demonic gene, but a distant descendant will. According to the narrator, "This kind of mating can be done deliberately."

Otake goes on: "When Yusuke died the first time, he wasn't prepared to be reborn as an Evil being yet. On that occasion, his origins weren't revealed. When we resurrected him as a Reikai Tantei, we were contributing to this new change." Enma-daiou found out about Urameshi's origins during the events that preceded the opening of the tunnel to Makai. Now the King of Reikai fears that Yusuke will become a threat as dangerous as Sensui. "Forty-four generations ago, when there was no barrier between the worlds, the Evil Clan implanted a terrifying force in mankind," says Otake. "This force resides inside Yusuke's body!"

Mitarai tries to defend Yusuke, saying he fought hard for Reikai and Ningenkai; if he's dead he deserves a dignified funeral; if he's not, executing him would be a barbaric act. One of the Boueitai hits him with a ki charge to silence him. Mitarai passes out.

Koenma argues that Reikai is responsible for Yusuke's transformation into Tantei, hence into whatever he will become now; he also reminds Otake that Yusuke's friends are fighting Sensui on that very moment. Apologizing for his rudeness, Otake hits Koenma with a ki charge; the Prince of Reikai doesn't faint, but he's too weak to stand now.

All of a sudden, Yusuke's body is surrounded by a coral-colored light and starts to levitate; he's about to wake up. All the six Boueitai in the cave aim their ki charges against Urameshi, in order to kill him before he awakes, However, a giant bird comes down from a hole on the top of the cave and protects Yusuke with its body. The Boueitai fire, to Koenma's despair.

The new Yusuke and the new PuuThey keep firing, but the soldiers soon lose their strength. When the smoke clears, the blue bird opens its wings and reveals a very live Yusuke: "Thanks, Puu, I'm okay now."

Otake is horrified; his worst fear has become true.

At the same time Yusuke turned into a demon, Puu — who contains part of Yusuke's soul — grew into that huge phoenix-like demonic creature. Urameshi comments that he woke up during Koenma and Otake's argument, so he knows he's an Evil Clan descendant.

A frightening Yusuke UrameshiThe Boueitai tremble before Urameshi's amazing new energy. Yusuke threatens the soldiers, showing his new fangs, saying he now belongs to the Demon World and giving a wild diabolic laughter.

The Boueitai run away in terror, and Yusuke's diabolic laughter turns into a mocking giggle. He was just kidding. ^__^

He asks Koenma if his three friends went to Makai after Sensui; Koenma confirms it. Yusuke: "Then let's go there at once, because it's a heavy task for them. Sensui is too strong." Otake tries to stop him. Yusuke, with a fake scowl: "Don't try my patience or I'll devour you, incompetent!"

At Otake's insistence, Yusuke states proudly: "I'm the one and only Yusuke Urameshi, and for me it doesn't matter what I am or how I resurrected; it doesn't matter if I belong to the Makai or to the nobility; my main goal is to finish Sensui once for all."

Koenma laughs happily, "Yusuke, I'm coming with you." Otake tries to stop the Prince, but Yusuke holds the commander back by pressing his shoeless foot against Otake's face. The commander passes out (because of the smell, I presume).

Yusuke and Koenma flying on Puu's back through the tunnel to MakaiYusuke and Koenma mount on Puu and take flight into the tunnel. Koenma is worried about the hypothesis of not being able to go back, but Yusuke says they'll think about that after getting Sensui. Koenma smirks: "You know what? It's not a bad idea!"

Next to the broken barrier, three Boueitai wonder why no demon tried to invade Ningenkai until now. One of them suggests that the demons didn't come fearing the presence of the Tokubetsu Boueitai; another disdains the boastful assumption. The third soldier, a girl, shush them and warns about the powerful source of demonic energy that she's sensing coming from Ningenkai.

Puu flies through the barrier carrying Yusuke and Koenma, not even giving a second glance at the flabbergasted soldiers.

In Makai, Kuwabara, Kurama and Hiei are completely beaten, while Sensui stands unharmed, apologizing for the suffering he's been inflicting on them. Hiei snorts, sitting tiredly on the ground: "Why don't you just kill us and get done with this?" Kurama, lying on the ground, makes an effort to raise his head and face Sensui: "We admit your strength outdo ours." Kuwabara lies on his back, unable to move; he silently begs forgiveness to Yusuke for not being strong enough to avenge him.

Sensui prepares the final blow, but stops in mid-motion when he senses an enormous energy coming from the tunnel to Ningenkai. Soon Puu appears flying through the Makai red skies, bringing Koenma and a grinning Yusuke: "I'm sorry for the delay, pal. Let's continue our fight!"
